AdminModular interfaces for digital music by IRCAM Interlude
Interlude is a research project that explores new ways of musical expression with gestural interfaces. One of the main challenges of the project is to renew the ways of interpreting and playing electronic music and computer. Part of the project focuses on designing modular objects "finish" and "compose" leaving a possibility of adopting broad users. These objects are tangible interfaces that capture a wide range of gestures and actions. Interfaces can be assembled into object networks connected wirelessly to change the use.
The 2011 international competition Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument, which recognizes the design of new instruments, awarded its first prize in the project consortium coordinated by IRCAM Interlude (Real Time Musical Interactions Team, IMTR).
